What is a Natural Health Product and the Natural Health Products Directorate?
In Canada, Natural Health Products are defined as:
- Vitamins and minerals
- Herbal remedies
- Probiotics, and
- Other products like amino acids and essential fatty acids.
These products must meet specific requirements outlined by Health Canada’s Natural Health Products Directorate (NHPD). Health Canada’s NHPD sets out guidelines on how foods containing supplements should be marketed. These guidelines state minimum and maximum recommended levels for each ingredient, arranged by age group. Coca-Cola uses these guidelines as a basis for determining supplement levels in all of our products.

Why don’t NHPs, like Fuze® Shape, have a Nutrition Facts table? Why isn’t sugar listed on the label?
Since Fuze® Shape is an NHP, you will find the packaging is quite different than other bottled beverages. Rather than a traditional Nutrition Facts table that appears on traditional food or beverage labels, NHP packages/labels are required to display a recommended use or purpose for the product, the recommended dose, the quantity of active ingredients and a list of all non-medicinal ingredients. You’ll also see that Fuze® also pro-actively lists the calorie content.
How is Fuze® Shape sweetened?
Fuze® Shape is sweetened with two artificial sweeteners called Acesulfame-Potassium & Sucralose. Acesulfame-Potassium is a calorie free, artificial sweetener. It is often blended with other sweeteners (such as sucralose) which gives it a more sugar-like taste.
Fuze® Shape, all four delicious flavours, achieves the right balance of sweetness to provide an overall great taste.

- One bottle of Tropical Punch contains 1 g of sugar
- One bottle of Pomegranate Acai Berry contains 3 g of sugar

Fuze® is made up of 3 different platforms – Shape, Refresh and Vitalize. Each platform has a different calorie count. All are based on a 547 mL bottle.
